Europe

Being born and raised in the UK I spent a good part of my early years exploring Europe although I wished I had seen more. Growing up in a mostly cold wet country I only wanted to escape to warmer places for my holidays!  It wasn’t until I left to go to Australia that I realised what I missed and there is so much of Europe I now want to see.  Most of our trips to the UK involve catching up with family and friends although we have made a point of breaking away to explore parts that I haven’t been to for years or was new to me.  Vaughan loves history and he likes to see as much of Europe as possible so we have over the years spent more time sightseeing. The Lake District is one of our favourite places for hill walking.

During our last trip in 2014 (as part of our RTW Trip) we allocated 6 weeks to Europe. Vaughan had always wanted to go to Iceland and luck had it the cheapest flights from New York to London were via Iceland so we stopped for a week.  Once in England we spent a couple of weeks catching up with family and friends before taking the Eurostar through the chunnel and to Amsterdam where we stayed with friends we had met on our Galapagos trip. We then took the train through Germany stopping in Heidleburg, Freiburg and finally Munich.

Our next trip to Europe we plan on getting there not by plane but by taking the Trans-Siberian railway from Beijing to Russia.  We want to spend months in Europe this time, possibly buying ourselves a campervan and making our way slowly round this amazing continent.
